Laser engraving is a process which removes a material from an object, leaving behind a design, words, or an image. As such, the process irreversibly alters the surface of the item to be engraved. JH Designs is not responsible for damage to the item caused by their good faith effort to perform/create the design requested by the customer. The customer hereby waives the right to recover damages arising from JH Designs for any loss of the item due to any unsuccessful engraving attempts. JH Designs will work diligently to ensure that work is completed to the satisfaction of the customer, however the customer acknowledges that the final result is dependent upon many factors, many of which are not within the control of JH Designs.

DISCLAIMER: Variations in color, texture, veining, clefting, etc. is an aspect of natural stones & should not be considered as flaws. The natural variation of slate allows for unique, one-of-a-kind creations. It is JH Designs goal to provide as color-consistent a product as slate and its natural imperfections will allow. Color and finish will be affected by the wild or coarse grain variations between different pieces of slate. The same finish applied to two pieces of the same slate species may result in somewhat different appearances. It can also be affected by ultraviolet rays, natural or artificial light. When in a raw state or finished with a transparent or semi-transparent stain or varnish, variations will become noticeable between different pieces over a period of time. Slate is an organic material and will/may react to large and/or rapid changes in temperature and humidity, causing things such as splitting, checking, discoloration, separation at joints, and decomposition of the adhesives and finish materials if applied. These changes are due to the natural chemicals within the slate itself. Because the changes occur at various rates, JH Designs cannot guarantee perfect or exact color matches when additional items are ordered subsequent to the original order. The natural aging of the slate may subtly alter the color over time and is beyond the control and responsibility of JH Designs.
Product Care
Slate coasters are relatively absorbent and are resistant to most stains and scratches. Slate does not need as much maintenance as other stones and can be washed with warm water and a small amount of a mild detergent when cleaning is needed. Do not use any bleach or harsh chemicals when cleaning. Simply let air dry.
